We must take this opportunity to remember that in July last year we had a major crisis at "The Ferret Sanctuary". The accounts would not be as they are today if it wasn't for the intervention and incredible support of Rose & Arthur Morris and the members of Mercia Ferret Welfare who raised over £500 to cover the vet's bill's that arose from said crisis. For that we are eternally grateful.

One thing that doesn't show on these accounts are the neutering costs of all the kits that we rehomed last year. The reason for this is the "Neutering Voucher" scheme that we run where by the client pay's for a voucher which covers the neutering costs, the money paid goes directly to the vet, who then sends the client a receipt to go along with said voucher which they keep until the kit/s are ready for neutering.

Well that is it the end of our first year as an independant ferret rescue and I don't think it could have been any more eventful, what a roller coaster ride it has been. Laughter and tears, births and deaths, babies and biters who could ask for more. We have met some wonderful people over the last twelve months and some not so wonderful, but we won't mention those! The updates we receive from everyone with the photos and stories are fantastic and they really make it all worthwhile. At times we feel like an adoption agency, but a lot happier for the fact that we are working with ferrets not with children! So here's to 2007/08. May the year ahead help us bring many more beautiful ferrets and good families together for the perfect forever homes.
