Are you unable to have a ferret of your own? Or would you like to help an ill or old ferret with their
veterinary bills? Maybe you would like to give a member of your family an unusual birthday gift?
Whatever your reason we would like to give you the opportunity to SPONSOR A FERRET.
Currently we have four ferrets available for sponsorship and
they are:
SNUFKIN
Snuffkin is a Polecat Hob who, we believe, is wo years old. Snufkin was tied up in a black refuse sack
and thrown over a garden wall in Kent. The next door neighbour of the garden he was thrown into kindly took Snufkin in for six months. The family were then emigrating so found WSFW and asked us to take
him in. Initially we thought they had called him "Snufkin" because of his snuffles, sneezing, coughing
etc, but that was not the reason. However it was obvious from the start that Snufkin had some major bronchial issues. We started with the basics and got his nails and his ear mites sorted out then
followed x-rays and blood tests to try and ascertain what the problem was. Sadly nothing specific
showed up from the tests and so we now believe that he has a combination of Bronchitus, Asthma
and Allergies. Poor Snufkin has daily bouts of sneezing, coughing and general wheezing. As such
he goes to the vet's regularly for check up's and discussions on any new treatments one might try to
make him more comfortable.
However in saying that Snufkin is one of the happiest little chaps you could ever wish to meet and
sooooo naughty too!!
Snufkin is an ideal candidate for Sponsoring and would love to sneeze, snuffle and dance all over his sponsor family.
SNUFKIN HAS A SPONSOR
Summer
Summer is a four year old Albino Jill with three legs. Summer was attacked by the family dog who
bit her badly on the front right leg. The owners left her in her cage, as they said they were
frightened to take her to the vet in case she was put down! By the time the vet got to see her her
leg was infected and had to be amputated. Summer was taken to another ferret rescue were she
was rehomed to a lovely family. Unfortunately, sometime later, the family needed to rehome the
majority of their ferrets and that is how Summer ended up with us and this is where she will now
stay.
Summer, despite the abscense of one leg, is remarkable. She has a lovely character and is very
lively. We have paired her up with Snufkin and although currently (17/06/08) they are still having
the odd settling in spat we are pleased with how things are going.
Summer is a great candidate for sponsoring and would love nothing more than an extended family.
BANDIT & TIGER- LILY
Bandit is a Polecat Jill who, we believe, is eight years old. Bandit was a stray. When found she was in a poor state and was a real little biter. Bandit now has a lovely personality and likes nothing more than to follow you around like a lost sheep and just when you think it is safe to move she appears and lays across your foot. She has started to go a very distinguished silver/grey around her back legs, but apart from that you would never know she was eight years old. Bandit also has a weakness for biscuits so when there is a cup of tea going she associates that with her favourite treat and waits at your feet for the opportunity to climb up your leg, grab the biscuit and run off with it. Bless her.
Tiger-Lily is an Albino Jill who, we believe, is five years old. Tiger-Lily was a young stray. When found she was in reasonable condition, but no one claimed her. Tiger-Lily has a nice character and is the boss in her little family. She loves washing ears both ferret and human, however when washing . Tiger-Lily is always the first out for playtime, but is also the first to disappear and find herself a a place to snuggle down and have a few zzzzz's.
THE SPONSORSHIP PACKAGE
As we mentioned initially the money donated to the specific ferret you choose to sponsor is to go
directly towards their veterinary costs. Therefore a monthly Standing Order will be set up, as part of the sponsorship package, with the veterinary practise they are registered with.
You will also receive a Sponsorship Certificate and some photographs of your ferret, along with a letter from them welcoming you into their lives. Every Birthday and Christmas you will receive a card from your ferret, together with a newsletter from them. If you live within a reasonable distance from us you may arrange, by appointment, to visit your ferret for tea.
The starting cost of "Sponsoring a Ferret" is £10 per calendar month. Any amount you decide on over
and above that is up to each individual sponsor.
